Scenario: I’m in line at the light this morning. To my right is a Starbucks. There’s a car waiting to exit the parking lot and enter the street where I’m waiting at the light.
Option A:
When the light turns green, smile at the waiting driver, and wave them to go ahead in front of you.
Option B:
When the light turns green, pretend you don’t see the other driver and just drive on, smug in the fact that you were there first and they’ll have to merge in when there’s an opening in traffic.
Option A felt so nice this morning. The other driver smiled back, immediately moved in front of me and I felt good about how I treated a fellow human being. After all, we’re all in this journey together. I’ve felt good all day now.
Some days, it’s the small things.
